The Gorilla Technique for Clearing the Table
Clearing the table should become a habit - a well ingrained, automatic behaviour. The Gorilla Technique will help your children cultivate this habit for life.
Clearing the table is such an important habit as it's something we must do after each meal and snack. There's a lot of science behind habit formation which we have used in developing the Gorilla Technique - why not put behavioural science into good use to help our family develop better habits (and save us parents from pulling our own hair?). In this training your kids will learn how to take a pause before clearing the table, in this pause they will GAZE at the table and take a mental note of what needs to be done. To make this pause a bit more interesting for the kids we have added the element of the Gorilla! Learn more in this training.
We would love your feedback at all stages of the training which you can add at the comment of each training chapter, by visiting our FB page Helpful Kids or by emailing us directly to [email protected].

Shiri Atsmon (L.L.B, M.B.A), Helpful Kids’ Founder
As a consumer researcher at WPP, Kantar, I was involved in many projects to explore family dynamics, for our leading cleaning brands (such as Vanish, Persil and Comfort).
Over time, I began to notice that I was encountering parents over and over again who were finding it challenging to get their children to help around the home.
Thinking about my own three children, who are now between the ages of 9 and 14, I decided to look into how to get my own children to help around the home.
I wanted to find a way that would avoid the struggles that I had heard, instead I sought peaceful methods that would enrich the lives of my whole family. Leaving no book unread, I began my quest. Later, after my own successes, Helpful Kids, London was born.
Starting with requests from friends, I was soon receiving invitations from the local community and managing our facebook page: HelpfulKidz, where we share advice and tips with parents.
Today I deliver workshops and training to parents. I am always filled with joy each time I see parents empowered and inspired by our programmes.
